Organization
The tasks of the National Police are varied and complex. Among other things, it is tasked with ensuring public safety and order, carrying out investigations in accordance with the code of criminal procedure, monitoring traffic on public roads, supporting accident and crime prevention, searching for missing persons and providing assistance in the event of accidents and disasters. The National Police perform these tasks with great commitment around the clock.
Central Police Command
The Central Police Command provides central basic services to ensure that the National Police fulfill their legal mandate. This includes tasks in the areas of finance, law and data protection, training and further education, media and public relations as well as central file administration.
Security & Traffic Division
The Security and Traffic Division are the first on the scene of any incidents such as burglary, theft, domestic violence, damage to property, traffic accidents, etc. and provide the necessary support. Security police operations at major events and personal protection are just as much a part of their remit as traffic and youth protection prevention. The Threat Assessment is also affiliated to the Central Police Command.

Crime Investigation Divisions
The Crime Investigation Divisions primarily carries out investigations in accordance with the criminal procedure code. With specialists in a wide range of fields, it investigates crimes such as property and white-collar crimes, robbery, assault, murder and narcotics offenses. The professional securing and evaluation of evidence is an important prerequisite for the success of the investigation.

Central Police Service Division
The supporting areas for police work are affiliated to the Central Police Service Division. These include the National Emergency and Operations Centre and the International Police Cooperation department, which is responsible for police cooperation with Interpol, Europol, Schengen and other international institutions. The State Prison is also organizationally assigned to the Central Police Service Division.
Police Technology and Equipment Division
The ICT (information, technology and communication), logistics and the Schengen Funds are assigned to the Police Technology and Equipment Division.
